Smart grids are a new concept and utilities around the world have started gaining experience in smart grid technologies. They span multiple functionalities and options each utility could be different based on legacy systems, consumer profile, priorities, business case, etc. There cannot be a Systems Requirement Specification Template like that of R- APDRP for Smart Grids. It needs flexibility and dedicated specialized manpower to handle the diverse, complex, and evolving needs of technology, standards, policy, regulations and innovation. As India embarks on its smart grid journey, it is imperative that we do not make the same mistakes but learn from each other's experiences. Towards this objective, ISGF is pleased to announce the launch of the Smart Utility Group (SUG). SUG will be a platform exclusively for utilities to exchange ideas and learn from each other, facilitated by ISGF. The senior management officials of utilities (Electricity Generation, Transmission and Distribution Companies) dealing with technology implementation, network operation and customer care are encouraged to participate in the SUG.
