Accenture acquires Structure to develop combined smart grid technology

Accenture is expanding its smart grid solution capabilities through the acquisition of Houston based Structure firm.

Consulting and technology service provider Accenture has acquired Structure that develops consulting, system integration and customized solutions to energy clients. The acquisition will also help Accenture develop its energy commodity trading and risk management (CTRM) and smart grid operation efficiency.

The terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The collaboration of Structures grid operations efficiency and power systems engineering with Accentures information technology (IT) expertise is expected to offer high value end-to-end solutions and services to clients.

In a later stage, Structures market operations and commodities trading services will be combined with Accentures digital asset management ability to help clients with commercial positions optimization.

Both companies share matching company principles that focus on delivery excellence, client relations and industry experience and specialization.

Structure has been recognized with various industry awards for growth, services and solutions that help clients achieve transformational strategies.

Structure will operate within Accentures Resources operating group. In another development, Accenture has been selected by Consumers Energy of Michigan to deploy new mobile workforce management (MWFM) software from Ventyx.

Ventyx is an ABB company that helps field workers improve safety, productivity and customer experience.

As per the deal, Accenture will work with Consumers Energy and Ventyx to implement the latest version of Service Suite with optimized, automated dispatching for workers.
