Landis+Gyr recognised for advanced metering innovations

Landis+Gyr has won the 2014 Global Frost & Sullivan Company of the Year Award for delivering innovative solutions for the advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) market.

Through constant innovations in AMI, Landis+Gyr has been delivering advanced solutions by pursuing higher energy management goals, the research agency said.

Moreover, the firm has been providing solutions that address current and future AMI needs with a comprehensive product portfolio.

This global energy management firm has been helping various utilities to improve their energy networks efficiency, reduce energy costs, aid in the sustainable use of resources and realize the full potential of the smart grid.

The Gridstream solution provided by the firm is a modular, end-to-end smart grid solution that combines metering, communications, network management, software, grid and consumer applications in a single integrated platform.

In 2004, Bayard Capital purchased Landis+Gyr and made 14 different investments in the utility sector, putting nearly $1.2 billion in capital and developing it into a networking and communication facility.

The company reached the peak of AMI market, through technologies and capability pushed by Bayard Capital as well as the Toshiba, which owned the company since 2011.

In 2014, Landis+Gyr acquired PowerSense, a smart grid technology company, and GRIDiant, a grid connectivity technology firm.
