PUNE: The Union ministry of urban development, spearheading the Smart Cities Mission organised a two-day training programme for newly selected Smart Cities in Pune, a statement issued by Pune Smart City Development Corporation Limited (PSCDCL) said.
"With a new round of 40 cities slated to take off on Smart City initiatives, the ministry has made efforts to help them kick start and accelerate the learning process. The implementation of the Smart Cities Mission involves processes of high complexity such as creating Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs), tendering and other technical tasks," stated the release.
The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), has been entrusted with providing technical inputs and sharing their experiences with other cities. The training was open for 40 cities selected in round 2 and the fast track round. The event had participation from 20 cities and the training was held on November 24 and 25.
The heads of department of PMC also shared their knowledge and experiences while implementing the Smart City Mission projects in Pune. A host of experts, consultants were selected to conduct the training sessions along with the heads of departments.
This was followed by a site visit wherein the participants got a first-hand experience of the some of the projects being carried out in Pune. Visits to Transport Command and Control Centre as well as the Light House project were arranged.
