DHBVN has mooted a plan to bifurcate its Gurgaon operational circle into two smaller units. This will enable the discom to cope with rising power demand, triggered by urban expansion, officials said. The discom is doggedly pursuing the plan, which is under consideration since November 18, to resolve its issues of revenue losses and surges in power demand. "Not only has there been an unprecedented growth in load over the last 10-15 years, but we are also confronted with emerging challenges every day, such as expectations of consumers, expansion of existing infrastructure, investment needed and making of Gurgaon into a smart city," reads the discom's letter to the chief engineer (operations).
