KOCHI: In an effort to expedite SmartCity, the IT project which aims at providing at least 80,000 job opportunities, chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan held a meeting with Ahmad Bin Byat, vice chairman and MD of Dubai Holding, the promoters of the project, in Dubai on Wednesday.
They discussed several matters pertaining to the development and speedy completion of Kochi SmartCity project.
Apart from Kochi SmartCity project, Dubai Holding is also keen to invest in the state, according to sources.
Former chief minister Oommen Chandy had inaugurated the first phase of the SmartCity project on February 20, 2015.
However, only a few IT companies, and that too low profile firms, have started functioning from the functioning fr SmartCity so far.
SmartCity Dubai CEO and SmartCity Ko SmartCity Kochi vice chairman Jaber bin Hafez, NRI businessman and SmartCity Kochi special invitee Yusuff Ali M A, additional chief secretary Nalini Netto, and SmartCity Kochi MD Baju George also attended Wednesday's meeting which was held at Emirates Towers in Dubai.
