CANDOLIM: The state government will soon approach the Centre for funds to improve the electricity infrastructure in the Calangute-Candolim belt, said Calangute MLA Michael Lobo. Lobo was talking to the media after inaugurating a new 100KV transformer at Orda in Candolim on Friday.
"The electricity requirement is going up constantly and the existing electricity infrastructure is not able to meet this demand, leading to frequent power failures. Because of this, when we form the next government, we will ask the Centre for funds to upgrade the Candolim electricity sub-station and put underground cables for uninterrupted power supply. We will also replace about 50-60 old transformers with new ones," Lobo said.
