Renewable Energy exhibition held in Srinagar

SRINAGAR: A two-day exhibition on Renewable Energy organized by the Jammu & Kashmir Energy Development Agency (JAKEDA) began in Srinagar at Tagore Hall here on Wednesday.  The exhibition is being held under the Information & Public Awareness (I&PA) programme of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).
Various companies from and outside the State have showcased their solar products in the exhibition. Devices like solar home lighting solutions, solar geysers, solar cookers, bio mass products are on display here.

The JAKEDA has also displayed its Mobile Exhibition Van, which is fitted with various Renewable Energy devices.
Speaking on the occasion, District Development Commissioner, Srinagar, Dr. Farooq Ahmad Lone, who was the Chief Guest of the event, called for choosing renewable energy devices wherever there is a choice for energy conservation.
The event also hosts a painting-cum-drawing competition on the Renewable Energy theme among the school students.

In-charge I&PA, JAKEDA, Er. Niyaz Bhatt, in his address to the gathering, said the objective of programmes like this is to make people aware about renewable energy, adding the Agency is getting an overwhelming response from public and demand for solar products has increased manifold.
