DEHRADUN: Dehradun is proposing electric buses with Wi-Fi facility as well as multilevel parking spaces at commercial locations in its 'smart city' proposal that will be submitted to ministry of urban development on Friday. Dehradun has failed to make it to the list of smart cities three times.
Mayor Vinod Chamoli said, "The proposed electric buses will have GPS and the bus schedule will be available at touchscreen kiosks at bus stops. Tehsil Chowk and Clock Tower will have smart parking systems so more vehicles can be accommodated. We have also included water ATMs which will be run using solar energy and 26 bio-digestor toilets in the proposal."
The proposal also has provision for upgrading Gandhi Park, Clock Tower and five major crossroads in the city along with 30 trenching grounds for better solid waste management. More and better equipped ambulances are also part of the proposal.
