India : 107 crore rupees first installment for smart development of Agra

AGRA: Union Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD) has approved the first instalment of Rs 107 crore for the development of Agra under the smart city project.

In the first phase, area-based development works would be carried out around Taj Mahal. Out of the approved funds, Rs 4 crore has been released already for the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) to initiate developmental works.

In September last year, Agra was selected by the Central government under the smart city project. Later, an SPV, under the name Agra Smart City Limited, was constituted and registered under Companies Act. The SPV would plan, appraise, approve, release funds, implement, manage, operate, monitor and evaluate the smart city developmental projects.
