India : Smart city SPV: Thiruvananthapuram corporation to convene technical committee on July 3

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The city corporation will convene the meeting of technical committee constituted for smart city project on Monday ahead of state high powered steering committee meeting scheduled for the second week of July. The corporation is convening technical committee mainly to zero in on officials who could be chosen as the full time CEO of Trivandrum smart mission limited. The civic body has already decided not to follow Kochi model in the formation of Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV). TOI had earlier reported as to how frequent transfers and retirement of officials included in the board of directors of Cochin Smart mission limited (CSML) had severely crippled the progress of smart city project in Kochi.

Officials with civic body said that mayor V K Prasanth is likely to hold meetings with chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan and lsg minister K T Jaleel to extract favourable decisions in the composition of SPV. SHPSC in its 10th meeting had directed corporation to follow the same structure as adopted in CSML and had suggested Trivandrum corporation to initiate the preparation of Articles of association and Memorandum of association for the incorporation of Trivandrum smart mission limited. Mayor V K Prasanth has learnt about the sluggish progress of smart city project in Kochi and has decided not to go by Kochi model in the formation of SPV.
