JEDDAH: Saudi Arabia’s Water Distribution Sector has succeeded in installing 878,729 electronic meters in several cities across the Kingdom, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
The sector aims to install more than two million electronic meters along with the associated electronic systems and softwares.
The initiative is part of the National Transformation Program 2020 to enhance and develop the digital field, in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
The sector has called on clients to update their data in order to benefit from the services and advantages of the newly-installed smart meters, which aim to improve performance efficiency and develop the services provided.
The sector explained that the installation of smart meters was implemented in order to support the automated billing procedures, reduce the percentage of water loss, in addition to being able to permanently monitor networks supplying properties and ensuring that water is supplied to customers during scheduled pumping intervals.
