India : Grand Challenge Competition for EV Charging Systems

Bureau of Indian Standards in association with the Department of Science & Technology is developing the Indian Standards for Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure. Interim Standards adopted include Type-2 (AC), Chademo (DC) & CCS-2 (Combined Connector). However, these Standards at present do not address all the Indian Use Cases. About 75% of the automobile market in India is 2 wheeled & 3 wheeled vehicles & small cars, along with a large demand for Urban Transit Buses.

BIS & DST Joint Working Group has issued Grand Challenge Call for EV Charging Systems to engage the diverse talent in the industry & academia; and give them opportunity to design a modern, scalable charging infrastructure for deployment in all Indian cities and highways for:

  • Small EV, two wheelers, three wheelers & small car
  • Medium EV; highway capable cars, load carriers, sports utility vehicles
  • Heavy EV, urban passenger buses, commercial trucks

Proposals are invited from Industry & Academia Groups to design, develop, prototype & validate an EV Charging System for India. Capable agencies may apply alone as well, provided they have access to the range of technology capabilities required for the task.

Last date for receipt of proposals is 31 October 2018 by 1700h.
