NASHIK: The Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) will undertake various water distribution projects worth over Rs 21 crore across the city. The main aim of the move is to strengthen the water distribution system, prevent loss and ensure proper distribution among the consumers. The projects include laying new pipelines in various parts of the city and conducting repairs of some of the existing pipelines. The civic body has already floated a tender involving these projects on Sunday. The administration is keen to ensure that these projects are completed as soon as possible, civic officials said. “Eight projects worth Rs 8 crore will be carried out in Pancahvati division, while five projects worth Rs 5.32 crore would be undertaken in the Satpur division,” said a senior civic official. “Similarly, 3 projects worth Rs 5 crore are to be implemented in Nashik East division, while remaining 7 projects worth Rs 3.75 crore are to be carried out in the Nashik Raod division of the NMC.”
“We are expecting that bids would be finalised within next three months. The projects will be completed within a year after works are awarded to contractors,” he added.
According to civic officials, once private agencies are finalised for carrying out the projects, the department will be sending the details to the NMC standing committee for its mandatory approval so that work orders to the agencies concerned could be issued, at the earliest. The projects, which are to be undertaken in Panchavati division, includes laying of water distribution pipelines worth Rs 6.5 crore in wards 1, 2, 3 and 6. It will cover areas like Sriram Nanagar, Sainagar, Hanuman Square on Peth Road to Makhmalabad village, Onkarnagar and Tavli Phata. Five projects worth Rs 5.32 crore, which are to be carried out in the Satpur division, include works in wards 8, 9 and 11. Gangapur Village, Navashya Ganpati, Pipeline Road, Jehan Circle and surrounding areas will be covered.
In the Nashik Road area, seven projects totally worth Rs 3.75 crore are to be carried out in various parts of wards 17, 18, 19, 21 and 22. Similarly, 3 projects worth Rs 5 crore are to be carried out in various parts of wards 14, 15, 16 and 30 of the Nashik East division.
