School children built and raced an electric car with the help of experts from Rolls-Royce Motor Cars.
The group of 10 boys and girls from Years 5 and 6 completed the Greenpower IET Formula Goblin race at the Goodwood Motor Circuit near Chichester. They built and piloted a specially-developed electric car in a race against teams from schools across the UK.
Before the event, the team had taken a break to meet and take inspiration from the apprentices, engineers, craftspeople and designers. Andrew Ball, global corporate communications manager and team leader for the project, said, "The team at Rolls-Royce Motor Cars were impressed with the childrens enthusiasm and passion for the project and we have no doubt that they are engineers of the future."
