Accordingly, BESCOM has taken pioneering efforts in setting up EV charging infrastructure in Bengaluru City. Presently BESCOM has installed 136 EV charging points at 74 locations. BESCOM has allotted special category connections to EV charging stations operated by several private agencies in their service area. BESCOM is also the State Nodal Agency for setting up EV charging stations all across Karnataka and is working on setting up 1000 EV Charging Stations across the state in line with the Budget 2021-22 of the Government of Karnataka (GoK).

The GoK has an ambitious programme to promote E-Mobility on a fast track in the state. In this regard, the Honourable Chief Minister of Karnataka, Shri Basavaraj Bommai and Minister for Energy, Government of Karnataka, Shri V Sunill Kumar will be part of the inauguration ceremony of the Karnataka EV-Abhiyaan and have kindly consented to hold a face-to-face interactive session with CEOs of leading Manufacturers of Electric Vehicles and EV Charging Stations, EV Fleet Operators, battery manufacturers and various other stakeholders during the Expo on 01 July 2022. Honourable Minister of State Electronics & Information Technology and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, GoI Shri Rajeev Chandrasekhar and Honourable Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy, Chemicals and Fertilizers, GoI Shri Bhagwanth Khuba will also grace the event.
