End Time 2020-09-22 19:00 (IST)

Power line communication (PLC) is a growing technology that utilizes the existing pre-installed power delivery network for data transmission. PLC technology has been in use for years but has come in more demand now with new communication technologies being supported by PLC. PLC has a number of advantages that make it an appealing complement, as well as a competitor, to other wireless technologies. PLC does not require any new wiring installations which can significantly reduce the deployment costs. Another advantage of PLC is that it can enable communication with hard-to-reach nodes where the RF wireless signal suffers from high levels of attenuation. Furthermore, PLC can provide a low-cost solution to complement other existing technologies such as RF wireless. IEEE Standards Association (IEEE SA) under the Industry Connections (IC) Activity has initiated a program towards setting up multiple Power Line Communications (PLC) testbeds in India engaging various stakeholders from Utilities, Industry and Academia. The webinar is organized to bring together various stakeholders from Utilities, Industry and Academia who look to leverage PLC as a core technology.
