India : Madhya Pradesh moving ahead in Renewable Energy Production

Bhopal : Efforts are being constantly made in Madhya Pradesh to produce energy from alternative sources of renewable energy along with conventional energy production. New innovations are also being made in this field. Grid-connected and off grid-projects have taken shape in the last one year in the state. At present, a total of 668.64 MW power is being generated from solar, wind, biomass and small hydro projects. Three new solar parks are being developed in the state. Madhya Pradesh is constantly moving towards setting an example in the country in the field of renewable energy-production.

A scheme has been started to set up renewable energy plants on the barren land of the state. Rewa and scheme project sites were also known due to wastelands in the past. Barren land has also been selected for Agar, Shajapur, Neemuch Solar Parks. Small investors are being encouraged to participate in RESCO (Renewable Energy Service Company) tenders. Till November 2018, the state was getting 1537 MW electricity from solar power, which has increased to around 2200 MW this year. Biomass power generation has also increased from 92.55 MW to 116.35 MW. There were 14 thousand solar pumps till November 2018, in the last one year which have increased to 18 thousand.

In the coming time, 2500 megawatt renewable energy will be generated in Madhya Pradesh. Electricity of 1750 MW from new solar parks and 1000 MW from Indira Sagar and Omkareshwar reservoirs will be available through floating solar plant.

The capacity of 15 thousand 548 KW being acquired by solar roof top plants till November 2018 has reached 24 thousand KW in a year. Along with LED bulbs, tube lights, the trend of 5 star rated fans has also increased. The use of solar energy has been started mainly in Police Headquarters, Telecommunication Offices, Medical Colleges, many state government departments and corporation-offices.

The power received from the Rewa project has helped in reducing the pressure of thermal power plants by getting about one-sixth of the total power consumption of the state. Electricity is being supplied to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation and Madhya Pradesh Power Management Company Limited from Rewa Solar Park. Up to 730 MW capacity has been commissioned from the project and the remaining 20 MW is to be commissioned by the end of December. A total capacity of 250 MWcapacity has been commissioned from Mandsaur Solar Park and continuous power generation is being done.
